Top Fuel team owner David Powers has announced that he has elected not to
renew 

his sponsorship agreement with Valvoline Motor Oil for the 2007 season.
Powers noted that his dragster, which is driven by "Hot Rod" Fuller, will
complete 2006 in Valvoline colors. He also said his team will continue
racing in 2007 and beyond.

 

"We've enjoyed a great relationship with Valvoline, including winning this
race for them one year ago," Powers said. "All together, we've won three
races with Valvoline on the car and we've managed lots of other achievements
together. It's been a great ride and we wish everyone at Ashland the
greatest success in the future. 

 

"We've got some exciting things happening at David Powers Motorsports. We're
primed for a big year in 2007 and we fully plan on making a concerted run at
the POWERade championship."

 

Fuller has raced to three victories in six final-round appearances since
Powers selected him as his driver in 2005. The group, led by crew chief Lee
Beard, raced to a top-10 finish despite running just 15 races. This year,
they've stayed in title contention with two wins and one runner-up finish.
Fuller is currently sixth in the points.

 

"I've had Valvoline on my racecars for two decades and it will be different
to not have them as part of our team because they're like family to me,"
Fuller said. 'But I also understand the business end of drag racing and I
realize companies ultimately have to make decisions that take them in
different directions.

 

"I sincerely want to thank Valvoline for all they've done for me. I wouldn't
be here without them; that's for sure."

 

The 35-year-old Fuller has been the face of Valvoline Racing for years,
including his successful run in the sportsman ranks where he was voted
"Driver of the Decade" in the  90s. He and Beard have no plans to leave
David Powers Motorsports, having signed contracts that will keep them with
the team through 2008.

 

"We've got some great momentum going on this team," Fuller said. "Our future
is going to be full of big things and we're very excited about the things to
come."
