Vandergriff hopes night time is the right time in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (August 17, 2006)- Coming down from the cool north woods
of Brainerd, Minn. to the triple digit heat of the O'Reilly Mid-South
Nationals at Memphis Motorsports Park, Bob Vandergriff Jr. has recognized this is a
week for change. Vandergriff and crew chief Jim Dupuy have been looking for a
more consistent racecar in the past few weeks and have found a way to gather the
already powerful horsepower and transfer it to the drag strip. The answer
became apparent last week in Brainerd when Dupuy's brother Wayne came to visit
with the UPS Top Fuel team. The Dupuy boys, having worked together for most of
their careers, are back together, with Wayne assuming a co-crew chief position
along side his brother. They last worked side by side for Joe Amato racing in
2005.

"Our goal always is to improve our team," explained Vandergriff. "We were
able to coax Wayne out of retirement, with his vast experioence and knowledge,
we saw it as a very good opportunity to improve our program. We are all excited
about Wayne joining the team and look forward to this relationship being long
and prosperous.  This is a great opportunity for Wayne to concentrate on
helping us improve the performance of the UPS Top Fueler and not feel the demands
or pressures, as well as help with his quest for a full recovery from his
November automobile accident. It's a win-win situation for us. Wayne is back with
his brother and we have a dynamic combination."
