Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning, AAA and Roush Racing Embrace the 'Responsibility Has Its Rewards' National Campaign with 'Buckle-Up, Every Trip, Every Time' Message at Michigan International Speedway for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, GFS Marketplace 400

DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 17, 2006 -- Michigan International Speedway (MIS), AAA and Roush Racing are proud to join forces with Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning (MI OHSP), The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR), RADD, The Entertainment Industry's Voice For Road Safety and Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management Coalition (TEAM) on the Responsibility Has Its Rewards (RHIR) national campaign.

MI OHSP RHIR Family MESSAGE (All Ages): Buckle Up, Every Trip, Every Time(TM)

  MI OHSP RHIR Adult MESSAGE (21+):  Fans Don't Let Fans Drive Drunk(TM)
  US DOT / NHTSA 2004 NATIONAL DATA:

* In 2004, 16,694 people were killed as a result of alcohol-related car crashes

* Many, if not most of those lives would have been saved if people did not drive when they were impaired by alcohol or if they used sober, designated drivers or if they simply wore their seat belts.

* Statistics and research clearly show that 21-34 year old males are the demographic most likely to be involved in an automobile crash, drive when impaired by alcohol, and fail to buckle up.

WHAT: Jack Roush is scheduled to tape a Buckle Up PSA at 10:25 a.m. FANS are invited to tape a Buckle Up traffic safety message too! By participating and committing to always Buckling Up, fans will be entered to win a VIP package, including two (2) tickets to the final NASCAR race of the season this year at Homestead (generously donated by AAA), along with two (2) tickets to a 2007 NASCAR race at MIS and much more!!

WHERE: The AAA exhibit located in the AAA Motor Sports Fan Plaza -- near Gate #24 -- NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, GFS Marketplace 400, Michigan International Speedway, Brooklyn, MI

WHEN: Sunday, August 20, 2006, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. (pre-race)

MI OHSP, NASCAR, MIS, AAA, Roush Racing, RADD, TEAM and NHTSA will invite fans to tape a traffic safety message at Michigan International Speedway. The fans may view their message online and may be selected to be included in a traffic safety message, public service announcement and/or vignette. A professional set will be hosted within the AAA Motor Sports Fan Plaza at MIS to tape Jack

Roush's PSA and fan's traffic safety messages. We will provide sample message scripts. Local media may be invited to participate and support.
