BimmerWorld Denver Wrap-Up

The streets of Denver took their toll on the BimmerWorld team when  
the SPEED World Challenge Series Touring Cars took part in the  
CENTRIX Financial Grand Prix of Denver. James Clay in the #36  
BimmerWorld 325i finished on the lead lap in 17th, while Seth Thomas,  
driver of the #38 BimmerWorld 325i, suffered an engine failure.  
Thomas did pick up the B&M Holeshot Award for having the best start  
of the field.

"This was a tough weekend," acknowledged Clay. "I started the second  
practice session by leaning on the car hard so that we could make  
some real improvements, but unfortunately the car ended up in a wall  
as a result."

"I dusted the E46 off for qualifying," Clay continued. "We put a  
known setup on it that performed very well. Unfortunately, I didn’t  
have the time in the car to be fully tuned up and get the grid  
position I would have liked."

"The E46 is like an old friend," noted Clay. "It's very capable and  
reliable. Although, it lacks some of the top end of the newer cars in  
the field."

"I had worked up to 13th or so," James added. "I believe I had the  
Hard Charger Award wrapped up until a spin in turn 3 on a late-race  
restart.  Passing in a street race is tough to do cleanly and you  
have to take the opportunities presented. This one did not work out."

On the outset, Seth Thomas looked to be on his way to having a great  
run on the streets of Denver.

"The start and most of the race went really well for my BimmerWorld  
E90," said Thomas. "I had a great launch and picked up 5 spots. I  
kept battling it out for more positions from there. Sadly, I didn’t  
finish the race due to the motor expiring at the halfway mark."

"The guy's definitely had the race setup 100% right," Seth went on.  
"I was a full second faster in the race than I was in qualifying.  
Though I think my qualifying run was hurt due to one of my tires  
leaking down on the first lap."

"Overall I am happy with Denver," Seth concluded. "I feel we made  
strides with the E90 and found speed at a track that didn’t really  
favor the car to begin with."
