Ruppel Has Mixed Results at Bark River Revisited
After suffering through a lackluster weekend at Bark River back in
July, Eric Ruppel was looking to get back on the podium and gain
valuable championship points. The month long break gave the team
enough time to build a new motor and put ?smoky? back in Eric?s
snowplow truck.
Saturday ? Round 9
Eric Ruppel and his #837 Chetek Off-Road, Art Carr Transmission,
AMSOIL, Phil?s Inc. Truck Stuff, True Flow, BFGoodrich Tires F-150
were in the third spot as the eleven truck field prepared for the land
rush start. When the green flag flew, Eric jumped on the throttle and
the BFGoodrich tires dug into the Upper Peninsula soil and put the
#837 into third place. The new engine was built will a bit more
reliability and slightly less horsepower, and Eric had to use his
driving ability to keep the truck in the front pack of trucks.
At the end of the first lap Eric moved into second place as #841 Bort
fell back to the fifth spot. Quickly Eric and # 834 Wells had a brief
battle before Wells to over the second spot. The next lap Wells
faltered and moved back to fourth place. Then #809 Steele made a move
and passed both Eric and wells putting Eric and his Art Carr
Transmission backed truck back to third place. The remaining six laps
saw Eric run consistent lap times, keeping Rod Wells behind him to
finish a hard fought third place.
?Finally we got back on the podium. After a good start in Antigo, we
have struggled a lot with our engine program. Our new motor isn?t as
strong as before, but hopefully we built in some reliability. Thanks
again to everyone that supports our program, BFGoodrich Tires, Art
Carr Transmission, AMSOIL, True Flow Filters, Phil?s Inc., Optima
Batteries and everyone else that?s on the truck. ? ? commented Eric
Ruppel.
Sunday ? Round 10
The start on Sunday saw Eric grab second place coming out of Turn One
and quickly take the lead at the top of the hill heading for the back
pit loop. Suddenly small signs of white smoke began to come out of the
#837 Ford F-150. On the third lap Eric pulled the truck into the
pits ending his day early. In the end Eric Ruppel was credited with
tenth place.
Currently Eric Ruppel is in 6th place in the 2006 CORR Sportsman Stock
Championship.
