MEDIA: Grand-Am's Diaz Set for Practice Session in
Sonoma

Grand-Am Driver Luis Diaz to
Practice at Infineon Raceway on Wednesday
WHAT:
Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series driver Luis Diaz will visit
Infineon Raceway for a practice session on Wednesday, Aug. 16. He will
practice in cars provided by the Jim Russell Racing Schools and will
work with school instructors.
It will mark Diaz' first-ever time driving on the 12-turn, 2.52-mile
road course; it comes in advance of the Sonoma 250, which is part of the
Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma weekend at Infineon Raceway, Aug. 25-27.
WHO:
Luis Diaz (No. 01 Comp USA Chip Ganassi Racing):
Diaz teams with co-driver and Auburn resident Scott Pruett in the
premier Daytona Prototype class of the Grand-Am Series. Diaz and Pruett
have teamed for a series-best four wins this season, including last week
in Watkins Glen (N.Y.). Diaz and Pruett are currently tied for third
place in driver points entering Sonoma, which is the penultimate race of
the season (last race is Aug. 31-Sept. 2 in Utah).
WHEN:
Wednesday, Aug. 16, 9:30 a.m.- 4 p.m.
WHY:
The race weekend will mark the debut of the Grand-Am Series at Infineon
Raceway. They will run the Sonoma 250 on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 3 p.m.
(Pacific), topped by the Daytona Prototype class, which features exotic
racecars that reach top speeds of 185 mph. The GT class makes up the
other half of the Rolex Series lineup and features race-prepared
versions of today's popular high-performance sports cars and coupes such
as the BMW M3, Porsche GT3 and the Pontiac GTO. Expect more than 40
entries on the track between the GT and Daytona Prototype classes.
