ADDITIONAL RACES HELD FOR SECOND STRAIGHT WEEK IN REGIONAL COMPETITION

INDIANAPOLIS – Additional races will be held for two of the three USAC
weekly Midget series this week, one week after the three divisions combined
to set a USAC record for most features at one track on a given night.

The three “Wednesday Night Thunder” divisions – the Regional, Indiana Ford
Focus and Kenyon Midget Car Series – will continue their seasons Wednesday
at Mt. Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind., as that weekly series makes its
final appearance at the 3/10-mile track this season.

The Regional Midget Car Series has an additional date Saturday at Grundy
County Speedway at Morris, Ill., while the Kenyon Midget Car Series
continues Friday at Anderson Speedway in Indiana.

Bryan Clauson and Brian Olson, third and fourth in Regional competition,
dominated both ends of a doubleheader last week at Mt. Lawn. Clauson, of
Noblesville, Ind., finished second to Olson in the first race – which was
made up following a rainout two weeks prior – before beating the Puyallup,
Wash. driver in the second feature.

Olson led 28 of the 30 laps in the first feature, having passed Travis Young
on Lap 3, while Clauson passed Chase Barber on Lap 14 of 30. Point leader
Scott Thoman was third, Mario Marietta fourth and Bobby Smith fifth in the
first feature, while Barber, Young and Alex Pruett rounded out the Top 5 in
race two. Thoman continues to hold the point lead by 91 over Young.

Zach Schiff of Ohio doubled up in the Focus twinbill, leading wire-to-wire
in the first feature and passing Tate Martz midway thru the second feature
in the No. 5 Janice East Beast/Ford Focus. James Robertson, Martz and
MacLeod were second, third and fourth respectively in both races, while
Ricky Ehrgott and Andy Nock were fifth in races one and two. Robertson
extended his point lead to 39 over Martz with two races to go.

Blake Fitzpatrick of West Terre Haute, Ind., continued the Kenyon trend of
winning races in bunches, topping the race after leading all 30 laps in the
No. 10 machine. Fitzpatrick, who also won July 26, beat 2004 champ Dakoda
Armstrong, point leader Chris Windom, Sammy Imel and Jeff Wimmenauer. Windom
’s point lead over Imel stands at 18.
