LUCAS OIL NHRA NATIONALS

Race Date: Aug. 11-13, 2006
Vandergriff remains in lucky #13 position at Brainerd
Brainerd, Minn., (August 12, 2006)- Bob Vandergriff Jr. of Alpharetta, GA.
came into the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals looking to change his luck. The UPS Top
Fuel driver will begin Sunday's elimination's from the lucky #13 position. The
Jim Dupuy-led crew has been working overtime, trying to find just what the car
wants to be consistent. It looks like their hard work has paid off, as
Vandergriff was able to drive to the stripe on three out of his four qualifying
attempts. Vandergriff was able to post runs of 4.727/308.43,
4.685/312.35, 4.655/312.50, and a tire-smoking 9.163/91.36.
"We are definitely on the right track," shared Vandergriff. My guys have
assembled a new car and worked very hard to find some issues that were keeping the
UPS car from producing consistent runs. I'm very proud of them and their hard
work. I look forward to seeing us carry that momentum into elimination's and
hopefully drive right into the winner's circle."
Vandergriff and company will race "Hot Rod" Fuller in the opening round of
