Solid Finish For Bourque At Nashville
Solid Finish For Bourque At Nashville
LEBANON, Tennessee (August 13, 2006) - - ARCA RE/MAX Series Rookie Pierre
Bourque brought up a clean 21st place finish Saturday afternoon in a high
attrition ARCA 200 from Nashville Superspeedway.
Bourque, driving the No. 11 Driving.Ca Chevrolet Monte Carlo for Andy
Hillenburg and Fast Track Racing, started the event 36th. Throughout the event,
Bourque inched his way through the most competitive ARCA field on record using
the race as a learning session.
With average lap speeds over 150 mph, the Nashville race marked Bourque's
Superspeedway debut in stock car racin’ and he was looking to make the most of
it. Despite batting some handling issues, Bourque continue a steady climb
towards the front. Bourque used the day to gain critical experience on big fast
tracks. In the end, Bourque battled adversity and claimed a very respectable
21st place finish.
“We made the race, that was one of our goals,?? said Bourque. “We didn’t
have the best car in the race, but we definitely had a solid car. Much of the
day was a learning experience for me. I don’t have a lot of experience in an
ARCA RE/MAX Series or the car, so to bring home a 21st is great for me.??
Bourque made his ARCA debut earlier this year at Winchester Speedway a short
track. On that day, the Ottawa, Ontario native roared from 23rd place to
collect a solid 13th. “There is such a huge difference between a short track and
a Superspeedway. The way you drive the race is entirely different. It’s just
amazing how much you can learn. I learned so much Saturday at Nashville; I
know it will help me not only in ARCA but with my other endeavors in the
NASCAR Busch East Series, where I am currently 17th in the championship.??
_Driving.Ca_ (http://www.driving.ca/) adorned the car as primary sponsor
this weekend. _Driving.Ca_ (http://www.driving.ca/) is Canada’s No. 1
Automotive website.
In addition, _Canada.com_ (http://www.canada.com/) , Canada's biggest online
community, _Working.com_ (http://www.working.com/) , one of North America's
top career sites, and _Dose.Ca,_ (http://www.dose.ca/) a cool site that caters
to hip Canadian urbanites coast-to-coast, all served as secondary sponsors
on Bourque’s No. 11 machine on Saturday.
All four new sponsors are part of Canwest-Global, Canada's largest media
company with interests in television, radio, newspapers and the internet. All
four will be backing of Bourque’s NASCAR Busch East season, his remaining two
CASCAR races, and his forays into ARCA.
“We had a pretty solid day for our sponsors,?? he continued. “Our car looked
great with their logos on it and I think we played well to the TV audience
too. We are putting together solid finishes in ARCA, as well as in the NASCAR
Busch East Series and CASCAR Series, all to our sponsors credit.??
Full Metals Minerals and Pollara Strategic Public Opinion also joined the
sponsorship effort Saturday as associate partners.
In addition to running a limited ARCA RE/MAX Series for Fast Track Racing
and car owner Andy Hillenburg, Bourque is also maneuvering a full NASCAR Busch
East Series schedule, followed by one remaining CASCAR event with Whitlock
Motorsports. This coming Saturday he will be back to short-track NASCAR action,
competing at Waterford, CT.
