Line No. 2 at Brainerd
BRAINERD, Minn. (August 12, 2006) - Jason Line, from Terrell, N.C., who
was born and raised in Wright, Minn., and began his racing career at
Brainerd International Raceway (BIR),
placed his KB Racing LLC Summit Racing Equipment in the No. 2 position
on the final qualifying ladder for the silver anniversary edition of the
NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals being held this weekend at BIR.
After running a 6.775-second pass in Friday's opening session of
qualifying, Line ended the day by posting 6.756 second run to finish the
first day of qualifying in the No. 2 position.
In Saturday's two qualifying sessions, Line ran 6.759 seconds in the
morning session and 6.753 seconds, the low for the session, in the final
qualifying session for the Pro Stock cars.
"Our Summit Racing Pontiac was the quickest of the last session today
and that makes me excited about going into eliminations tomorrow," said
Line following qualifying. "I drove pretty well, which gives me
confidence. I hope that (teammate) Greg (Anderson) and I both get to
the finals. That would be a fun race. It's going to be a tough day
tomorrow. Everybody else is fast too. We're just a tick above them
which means we must drive well and the car must also be at its best."
Jason is also keeping one eye on his brother Lance who is racing here in
Stock Elimination. "Lance has moved to the fourth round. He has won
this race before, so he definitely could go all the way tomorrow. It
would be really cool if we both could win it all," added Line.
Line goes against Kenny Koretsky, who returned to action for the first
time since a horrific accident in a race against Bruce Allen last year
at Dallas. Koretsky qualified No. 15 with an elapsed time of 6.783
seconds.
Entering this event, Line is No. 1 in the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock point
standings. The unassuming Line took over the top spot at the NHRA
national event in Denver and has held the No. 1 spot for the last three
events.
Line begins his quest for the Lucas Oil Nationals Pro Stock title on
Sunday, Aug. 13 with eliminations for all classes beginning at 11 a.m.
