Anderson No. 1 at BIR
Eighth of year, 48th of career

BRAINERD, Minn. (August 12, 2006) - Greg Anderson drove his KB Racing
LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment-backed Pontiac GTO to the top
qualifying position at this weekend's NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals at
Brainerd International Raceway (BIR). It was his eighth No. 1 of 2006
and 48th of his career.

Anderson had low elapsed time of both Friday sessions, running 6.759
seconds in the first qualifying session and 6.744 second in the second.

He continued to be low in the first session on Friday running an elapsed
time of 6.736 seconds. In the last session, Anderson slowed a little
opening the door for his teammate Jason Line to run low E.T. of the
final qualify session.

"The performance and consistency of this Summit Racing Pontiac goes to
the guys that work on this car day in and day out at the shop and at the
track," said Anderson. "It isn't the drivers; those guys are the ones
who puts us at the top the field. I can't say enough about them and the
job they do. I do know they don't receive enough credit.

"I'm not sure why we slowed that last session but the guys are looking
to see if we had any problems. We still had the two quickest guys with
Jason low and me second, so I am confident going into eliminations
tomorrow."

BIR always offers a chance to catch up with old friends for both
Anderson and Line. Although both now live in North Carolina, both are
from Minnesota - Anderson from Duluth and Line from Wright.

"I would have to say that this track definitely has a home-track feel,"
reflected Anderson. "Not only do Jason and I have a lot of family and
friends here, we have developed a large number of fans over the years.
This always gives you extra incentive to win. You want to do it for the
hometown folks."

Those hometown folks will see Anderson line up against Richie Stevens,
Jr. in the opening round tomorrow. Stevens finished on the bump, No.
16, with an elapsed time of 6.785 seconds.

Going into tomorrow's eliminations, Anderson has one Pro Stock win in
three final rounds at the Brainerd track. His win came in 2003 at the
expense of Kurt Johnson, who was born in Virginia, Minn. He was also
runner-up to Jeg Coughlin in 2002 and Dave Connolly in 2004.

Anderson begins his quest for the Lucas Oil Nationals Pro Stock title on
Sunday, Aug. 13 with eliminations for all classes beginning at 11 a.m.
All times are local Brainerd time (CT) and subject to change at anytime.
