August 11 Friday Night SSP Race Results
A Night of Repeat Winners at SSP on Friday Night
Newberrytown, PA (August 11, 2006) - On the very popular Camera & Autograph night, John Stehman and Brian Hauenstein both became repeat feature winners at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Friday night in the Trail Motors Super Sportsman and Street Stocks respectively. John Stoll Jr. picked up the Four Cylinder Stock Car win with Ralph Morgan winning the make-up Four Cylinder Stock Car feature from June 1.
Starting from outside row two, John Stehman jumped out to an early lead over Chris Reed and Dave Calaman. Calaman passed Reed on the fifth lap and began his pursuit of Stehman. With the help of a few cautions, Calaman was unable to get by Stehman.
A lap 19 red flag for an Aaron Eichelberger flip set up a one lap shoot-out between Calaman and Stehman for the win. Stehman once again held off Calaman on the final circuit to pick up his second feature win of the season at SSP. Following Calaman was Chris Reed, Smokey Snelbaker and Ryan Rupp. Qualifying heat wins went to Reed, Calaman and Jason Fry.
Picking up the $100 Trail Motors Super Sportsman bonus was Dave Calaman. Bobby Hockenberry and Vance Yinger picked up $50 bonuses from Trail Motors.
In an unusual caution-filled Street Stock feature event, Brian Hauenstein became the first repeat SSP Street Stock winner over 2005 Track Champion, Wes Alleman. Chad Smith, who led the first 15 circuits before giving up the lead to Hauenstein, settled for third. Kirby Sites and Eric Walker rounded out the top five. Sam Leonard, Jr., Chad Smith and Steven Dove won the qualifying heats.
In Four Cylinder Stock Car action, Bryan Michael jumped out to an early lead until lap 5 when he was overtaken by Dale Kreiser. Michael regained the lead when Kreiser exited the track on lap 8. John Stoll Jr. came from a seventh place starting position to grab the lead on lap 12 of the 15 lap feature event. Stoll never looked back to pick up the win over Larry Stine, Grant Adams, Eric Hollenbach and John Henry. Stine, Adams and Ralph Morgan Jr. picked up the qualifying heat wins with Denis Christ Jr. winning the consolation event.
In the Four Cylinder Stock Car make-up feature from June 1, Ralph Morgan Jr. was victorious over John Stoll Jr, Ed Hollenbach, Dustin Hollinger and Grant Adams.
Due to the lack of SSP staff available for the racing events to be moved to from Friday night, August 18 to Saturday night, August 19, the events will remain on Friday, August 18. The night will feature the Trail Motors Super Sportsman, Late Models, Street Stocks and a Mini Van Construction race.
The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south.
