ACDelco Adds Its Name to IHRA Norwalk Race
Grand Blanc, MI, August 9, 2006 - Officials from ACDelco today
announced that they have agreed to be the presenting sponsor of this
month's International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) race in Norwalk, Ohio.
The event, which is the eighth stop on the 11-race eMax Drag Racing
Series schedule, will be known as the Skull Shine World Nationals
presented by ACDelco, and held at Norwalk Raceway Park on August 24-27.
"ACDelco has a long history with the IHRA through our sponsorship of
Harold Martin in the Pro Modified ranks, as well as our title
sponsorship of previous events in Richmond and Cayuga," said Susan
Christophersen, Event Marketing Manager for GM Service and Parts
Operations. "In addition, we have had a long and productive association
with Norwalk Raceway Park, which is the crown jewel of the eMax Drag
Racing Series. Therefore, when we were offered the chance to be a part
of arguably the biggest IHRA race of the season at its premier facility,
we jumped at the opportunity."
Naturally, IHRA officials enthusiastically greeted the news of ACDelco's
increased involvement in this year's Ohio race.
"We're pleased to welcome ACDelco as the presenting sponsor of the Skull
Shine World Nationals at Norwalk Raceway Park," said IHRA President
Aaron Polburn. "As one of the premier stops on the eMax Drag Racing
Series, it's a perfect fit for one of the premier automotive parts
companies in the world."
In addition, today's announcement increases ACDelco's support of the
Bader family's state-of-the-art facility. Throughout the course of the
year, the leading automotive replacement parts supplier sponsors two
other Norwalk Raceway Park events, including the annual "Night of Fire"
extravaganza, as well as the ACDelco High School Nationals, a single-day
event where over 800 high school students from across the Midwest gather
and compete for over $20,000 in scholarship money.
"Norwalk Raceway Park has been involved with ACDelco for a long, long
time," said Bill Bader Jr., president of the famed Ohio quarter-mile.
"In fact, they play a major role in some of the biggest events that we
do throughout the year, so we are thrilled to have them involved with
the World Nationals.
"To have a company like ACDelco be able to believe in us enough to put
their name on our race is a validation of what we are doing, as well as
drag racing as a whole. I enjoy working with them, and they bring a lot
to the table, not only as a sponsor, but as a marketing associate,
helping us to fill the stands. I look forward to working with them on
this year's World Nationals."
