At Watkins Glen

WATKINS GLEN,  N.Y.,  Aug.  10 -   Harrimn Brix af San Jose, Calif. qualified
tenth Thursday afternoon at Watkins Glen International in the Fed5 the Needmoran
Racing DORAN JE4  Ford No.  77 for  tomorrow  night's Crown  Royal 200  Daytona
Prototyp Rolex Series ram on the Gkn's short obucse.
The No. 77, which carries the mlors of the Kodak EasyShare System, Amp'd
Mobile and SIRIUS, posted a qualifying time of  1 :OS591 (128.588 mph).
Brix's m-driver is Terry Borchaller of Vera  Beach, FlB.
The pole went to the GAINSCO/BtackRawk Racing No-      99 of Alex Gurney with
a 1 :07.496 (130.674 mph) for the 2.45+mile, 11-turn rmd cm~rxte. The field WBS  split
in half for two 15-minute sessions for qualifying here.
Twenty-six Daytona  ProtoQpes are  entered in the 20drniler82-lapRwehour
race, which will start at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time tomorrow night and will be broadcast
tweand-a-half hours later at 9 p-m. Eastern on SPEED.
"The  car  is working  very  wdl," E r i ~ said  after  qualrfying.   "The weather  is
sunny and it's about 85. We're working an a couple of ideas to  improve the car even
more in the evening practice session.  We think  our car will be even better as it gets
cooler' which will hopefully help us tomorrow night."
The  team  was   15th  in  the first  practice  session  M a y  with  a  1:00.883
(128.573);  tenth in the secand practice session with a 1:08.537  (128.690 mph) and
ninth in the third session with a 1 :08.444(128.864 mph).
