STOCK 
BUILDING SUPPLY HOSTS NASCAR ELITE DIVISION RACE AND HOME IMPROVEMENT SHOW 
SATURDAY AT IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY 

 

IRWINDALE, Calif. (August 9, 2006) – 
Race fans who enjoy NASCAR’s highly competitive  short track racing and are interested in 
embarking on future home remodeling projects will be able to check items off of 
their project list of things to do this Saturday (August 12) at Irwindale 
Speedway. 

 

Stock Building Supply, a leading supplier of building materials to 
professionals and individuals is hosting the Stock Building Supply 100 NASCAR 
AutoZone Elite Division Southwest Series race and the Stock Building Supply Home 
Improvement Show. The Home Improvement Show, free to all event attendees, will 
allow individuals to preview the latest in home improvement materials and tools 
and receive remodeling advice from professionals representing key vendors 
associated with Stock Building Supply.  


 

NASCAR’s Elite Division 
features 2,900-pound cars using metal or fiberglass bodies, powered by 350 to 
358 cubic-inch engines. NASCAR Nextel Cup racers including Jamie McMurray, 
Travis Kvapil, Gregg Biffle, Matt Kenseth and Kevin Harvick honed their racing 
skills competing in the Elite Division during their formative years. San Fernando’s Rip Michaels leads the series with a 
five-point lead over Eddy McKean of Jerome, ID.  


 

Three other races are 
scheduled for Saturday evening including the Auto Club Late Models, Vista Paint 
Super Stocks and the Snap-on Tool Mini Stocks.  

 

Gates open at 3 p.m. with 
the Home Improvement Show open until 8 p.m. King Taco’s fan appreciation 
autograph session will take place on the track at 5:45 p.m. with green flag 
racing action scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

free) featuring the Lucas Oil Super Late Model twin races and a Demolition 
Derby….August 26 - Villa Roma 
Sausage Night featuring the USAC Western Sprint Car series, Ford Focus Midgets 
and the 20’ x 27’ LED giant screen showing TNT Network’s broadcast of the NASCAR 
Nextel Cup Sharpie 500, live from Bristol Motor Speedway….August 31 - Mopar NASCAR D1 All-Star 
Drifting Duel featuring Kasey Kahne and other NASCAR Nextel Cup drivers 
competing head-to-head in drifting competition against the top Japanese and 
American drivers from the D1 Grand Prix Series.
