Justin Marks Looks For A Hit In Nashville

Justin Marks Looks For A Hit In Nashville
LEBANON, Tennessee (August 9, 2006) - - After two disappointing finishes at
Kentucky and Gateway, Justin Marks and the Shaver Motorsports storm into
Nashville Superspeedway this week looking for a platinum finish in Saturday’s
ARCA 200.
In his last ARCA venue, Marks practice and qualified in the top-twenty and
remained there for a majority of the event before brake failure put the rookie
out of contention, collecting a 32nd place finish.
After a week break from ARCA competition, Marks has regained his thoughts
and is preparing to put his No. 2 Crocs Racing into the top-ten for a second
time this season. Earlier this year, Marks scored a career best tenth at
Michigan International Speedway in June.
Marks is no stranger to the 1.333-mile concrete track of Nashville
Superspeedway. Attempting to make his first start of the 2006 season in the PFG Lester
150, Marks appeared as a contender posting top-15 efforts in practice.
Unfortunately, the driver experienced a hiccup in time trials, forcing him out of
the starting grid. This weekend, Marks looks for no mercy and is confident he
can rebound.
“We’ve had a couple tough races,?? said Marks. “We’ve had good cars just no
luck. I don’t know what to say. Hopefully the bad luck is out of the way and
I can have a strong race. I really like the Nashville track. It’s a very
fast track but I want a smooth weekend. I don’t expect any misfortune on
Saturday.??
Despite a recent open test at NSS (Nashville Superspeedway), the Shaver
Motorsports team elected to forgo the session as they feel extra prepared for the
ARCA 200. “We participated in the first open test at Nashville back in March
and we were competitive. It’s really not worth taking the time to go out to
the track and worry about a mechanical failure or a blown tire which would
ruin our primary car. We’re safe for this weekend. I’m really pumped.??
Shaver Motorsports will field a two-car team this weekend, with local driver
Ron Cox piloting the No. 49 Petro Express Chevrolet.
For the third consecutive race, Crocs Inc. a leading company in footwear
will sponsor Marks’s No. 2 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for the 14th event on the 2006
ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule.
Crocs was formed in July 2002 when three Boulder, Colorado based founders
decided to market an unusual shoe developed and manufactured by Foam Creations,
Inc. Originally intended as a boating and outdoor shoe because of its
slip-resistant, non-marking sole. By 2003 Crocs had become a bona-fide phenomenon,
universally accepted as an all purpose shoe for comfort and fashion.
From 2003 to 2004 Crocs focused on accommodating our remarkable growth while
maintaining control. They expanded our product line, added warehouses and
shipping programs for speedy assembly and delivery, hired a senior management
team and acquired Foam Creations. Today, Crocs are available all over the
world and on the internet as we continue to significantly expand all aspects of
our business.
Despite their rapid success, they still stand behind to the core values of
Crocs Footwear. They are committed to making a lightweight, comfortable,
slip-resistant, fashionable and functional shoe that can be produced quickly and
at an affordable price to our customers.
“We’re really excited about carrying the Crocs Racing colors again this
weekend,?? explained Marks. “Crocs have been a long time supporter of mine and I’
m proud and honored to be carrying their colors. We haven’t produced the
finishes they deserve, so hopefully the monkey is off our back and we can roar
into the top ten.??
Rolling into Nashville, Marks a native of California has six ARCA RE/MAX
Series starts to his resume with a career best finish of tenth at Michigan
International Speedway (June 2006). He holds a career best superspeedway time
trials effort of fifth at Talladega Superspeedway (October 2005),
Following Nashville, Marks will run four more events on the ARCA schedule at
Milwaukee, Chicagoland, Talladega and Iowa.
The ARCA 200 (150 laps/200 miles) is the 14th of 23 events on the 2006 ARCA
RE/MAX Series schedule. Practice begins August 11th with a two and half hour
(11:00am-1:30pm CST) session planned. Pork pole qualifying is on tap Friday
afternoon (5:30pm CST) with the race set to take the following afternoon. SPEED
will have live coverage of the event Saturday, August 12th beginning at
2:00pm CST. In addition to SPEED, _arcaracing.com_ (http://www.arcaracing.com/)
