Ford Motor Ordered Advanced Design High Voltage Energy Converters (HVECs) by Enova Systems
TORRANCE, Calif.--Aug. 9, 2006--Enova Systems (AIM:ENVS), a leading developer and manufacturer of electric, hybrid and fuel cell digital power management systems, announced today that Ford Motor Company has ordered four (4) advanced design High Voltage Energy Converters (HVECs). This is another strategic project by Enova and Ford Motor, whose relationship began with the "Th!nk City" vehicle.Mike Staran, Enova's Vice President of Marketing, stated: "The joint project demonstrates the constant development and optimization of our High Voltage Energy Converter. The project illustrates the fully commitment of Ford Motor Company to Enova as a supplier and to its production applications."
Enova will design and develop the components which will transfer power between the fuel cell, the drive system and the battery, plus assist in energy recovery during regenerative braking. The source of propulsion power is therefore transparent to the driver, allowing him to concentrate on normal vehicle operation.
Enova has had a long relationship with Ford Motor Company, starting with the Th!nk City vehicle. It has continued its relationship by aiding Ford in their development of Alternate Fuel Vehicles (AFVs).
Furthermore, similar Enova components, to the current HVECs, are used to power Ford's Focus Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles. There are 30 vehicles since January 2006, which have been formally evaluated and tested throughout five worldwide cities.
