New Livery For #26 Claudio Burtin C6 Corvette
Claudio Burtin #26 New Livery For the Speed World Challenge Series LG Motorsports Committed To Fight The Good Fight
Running on the LG Motorsports team of Lou Gigliotti, Claudio Burtin has added a new sponsor to his car for the last 4 races in the Speed World Challenge series. Burtin's #26 LG Motorsports C6 Corvette will feature a new livery of black over white with medium blue trim, the colors of Foametix. Foametix, of Cartersville, Georgia is a producer of high performance insulation products.
Burtin expressed excitement about his involvement with Foametix and competing in the SPEED World Challenge Series.
"I'm really pleased Foametix is coming on board with us through the of end of the season," said Burtin. "Our plans call to continue with our World Challenge GT program for the remainder of 2006, then review our options for 2007. Despite the extra 150 pounds and increased restrictor the Series has recently added to the Corvette, we're committed to stepping up our efforts to bring the @26 Foametix Corvette to the front."
Burtin was referring to an announcement made earlier this month when SCCA Pro Racing announced competition adjustments to the Chevrolet Corvette C6, Porsche 911 GT3 (996 and 997) and Aston Martin DB9, effective the next SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT Championship race at Road America Aug. 20
SCCA officials changed the base weight of the Corvette from 2950lbs to 3100lbs and also gave the car 300 RPM more to their rev limit, raising it from 7100 to 7400 RPM. This now places the Corvette at the same base weight as the Dodge Viper.
It should also be noted that the new, 997-bodied Porsche 911 GT3 received a 50-lb addition to bring its base weight up to 2850lbs. In addition, two cars received positive adjustments. The older, 996- bodied Porsche 911 GT3 received a 50-lb weight break to change its base weight from 2800 to 2750. The Aston Martin DB9 received a 100lb reduction in base weight (to 3000) and will now run without an air restrictor.
Along with the #87 3 Dimensional Services Corvette C6, Burtin's #26 Corvette C6 runs under the LG Motorsports banner of 3i-time World Challenge Champion driver, Lou Gigliotti. With four races remain, and posting two wins on the season, Gigliotti leads the World Challenge GT Drivers Championship driving his #28 Long Pro Tube Header Corvette C6.
"The Series has presented the Corvette with a difficult challenge," noted Gigliotti, referring to the recent technical restrictions. "I have been in the series for nearly 100 races and ultimately the rules come around to being fair."
"LG Motorsports will fight to the end to win this championship regardless of what our competitors or the Series technical staff throws at us," declared Gigliotti. " Fans that know us know we leave it all out on the track... you can rest assured we'll give them something to shout about."
Round 7 for the SPEED World Challenge Series for both the Touring Car and GT divisions will be run as part of the Generac 500 at Road America August 18-20, 2006
