SMITH CONQUERS CHEMUNG, EXTENDS POINT LEAD

INDIANAPOLIS – Ryan Smith extended his USAC Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car
Series point lead Saturday after winning the 25-lap feature at Chemung
Speedrome in New York, besting defending series champion Michael Sboro on
the last lap.

Smith drove past Sboro as the pair was approaching the checkered flag and
held on for his second straight victory to beat Sboro, Nick Wean, Jeff Abold
and Jon Seaman.

Sboro had led the previous 15 laps after taking the lead from Abold on Lap
9.

Smith’s lead stands at 19 over Abold with the next race scheduled for Aug.
19 at Belmar, N.J.
