                                                          Martin is set for
the Nationals!

 

August 7, 2006 (Knoxville, IA) The Hitman, Jason Martin and the NOS Energy
Drink team are excited and chomping at the bit for the rookie's first
appearance at the Knoxville Nationals.  The crew will have an added crew
member for the Nationals, Steve Swinson will be board this week as the crew
chief on the Nos Energy Drink/Mafia Motorsports #36 Maxim.  Swinson who is
coming off crewing his brothers Brodix Tournament of Champions win this past
Sunday night is really looking forward to working with the hot shoe and the
team.  Martin is coming off a 12th place finish at Eldora and an 11th at KC
Raceway.  

 

Martin who had his best finish at Eldora since returning to action after an
earlier season injury was as high as 7th before the left rear tire blistered
and relegated the youngster to an 12th place finish.  At KC Raceway a 5th
place qualifying effort and a transfer through the heat put Martin in the
dash where he would finish 9th and start in the same position for the
feature.  While holding onto 9th the rear brake caliber split leaving Martin
with no rear brakes but using judgement and skill he still managed to bring
the NOS Energy Drink #36 home in 11th and gain points.  Now it's off to the
biggest race of the season, the 46th annual Knoxville Nationals.  With a
fresh Kriner making great power the young gun has confidence and with
Swinson's guidance, Martin likes his chances.

 

"I'm excited and looking forward to this." Said a smiling Martin. "We have
good power in the motors and Steve (Swinson) is a huge addition to this
team.  I know how to get around this place and with Swinson's guidance we
should be pretty tough.  Chad (Kemenah) run's Wednesday and I think we can
learn some things from his run to take with us for Thursday.  We will
definitely be drinking our NOS Energy Drink as you pull some hours here and
need to be focused.  Jeff Ragatz from Mafia will here and we want to give
him a good run.  Our goal is the "A" feature Saturday night and there is no
reason why we can't do that."
