SSP Regulars Dewease and Layton Score Wins Against NST

 

Newberrytown, PA (August 3, 2006) - Lance Dewease and Chad Layton swept both National Sprint Tour features at Susquehanna Speedway Park Thursday night.  Dewease won the 25-lap feature, which paid $7,500 to the winner, while Hodnett won the non-stop 15-lap feature, earning $2,500 in the process.

 

Sam Rial won the 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature while John Scrivens was victorious in the 15-lap Xtreme Rookie Rumble race and Bob Campbell won the 12-lap Penn-Mar Vintage Stock Car main.

 

Dewease passed Jason Meyers for the lead on lap 17 with an outside move in turn 3.  He then had to hold off Paul McMahan following a lap 22 restart for the victory.  Dewease defeated McMahan, Meyers, Steve Kinser and Fred Rahmer.

 

In the second feature, Layton watched Brian Paulus and Blane Heimbach swept the lead several times over the first five circuits.  Layton finally passed Paulus for good on lap 6 and went on to win the non-stop feature in 4:56.10 (track record).  Paulus settled for second followed by Shane Stewart, Lucas Wolfe and Mark Smith.

 

Jason Solwold, Todd Shaffer, Jason Sides and Mark Coldren won heats for the 32 cars.  Solwold's 2:03.19 was a track record.  Alan Krimes won the B Main and had the fast time (14.728 sec.).  Rahmer and Meyers won the trophy dashes.

 

Sam Rial and Charlie Pensinger were side by side at the line in the 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature with Rial picking up his first win at the speedway.  Pensinger was second followed by Matt Wampler, Jason Failor and Adam Smith.

 

John Scrivens led the final 11 circuits of the 15-lap Xtreme Stock Car Rookie Rumble main.  He defeated Larry Landis, Adam Doll, Sean Higgins and Tim Hahn.

 

Bob Campbell was victorious in the Modified portion of the Penn-Mar Vintage Stock main.  Fred Krickbaum won the Sportsman portion.
