Baer Wins in Late Model Action at SSP on Friday Night

 

Newberrytown, PA (August 4, 2006) - Larry Baer became the first repeat feature winner of the season in the highly competitive Late Model class at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Friday night.   Baer started on the pole and led every lap enroute to his second SSP feature victory of 2006.  

 

Early in the race Baer was challenged by Sterling Kinard who eventually finished fourth.  Second place finisher Randy Christine Jr. challenged Baer for the lead in the last half of the event, but was unable to make the winning pass and had to settle for second.  Steve Billet finished third. 

 

Larry Baer, Randy Christine Jr. and Jerry Bard won heats for the 36 cars.  Pat Beard won the consolation race.  

 

A.J. Ernesto picked up the ARDC Midget victory in the shortened 13 lap feature event.  The race was cut short after an unusual amount of cautions and red flags.  Ed Stimely, P.J. Gargiulo, Carey Becker and Eric Heydenreich rounded out the top five in the 26 car main event.  Mike Miller, the scheduling coordinator and Todd Fisher, SSP co-promoter have tentatively agreed on a minimum of 12 dates for the 2007 racing season for the ARDC Midget at SSP.  The majority of the dates will be on Thursday nights.   

 

Joe Snodgrass wired the Classic Car field as he lead all 15 laps of the feature from his pole position.  Jamie Lloyd, Bill Brown Sr., Joe Brown and Brian Diehl round out the top five respectively.  Brown Sr. came from a 13th starting spot.  Bill Brown Sr. and Jamie Lloyd won the qualifying heat races.

 

Kendra Knaub took the lead from Nicole Markel on lap 10 of the 12-lap Women on Wheels Stock Car feature and never looked back. Finishing second and third was Beth Burhman and Kim Flannagan.  

 

Daryl Sipe was victorious in the York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van Snake Race over Tana Bear and George Danner.

 

The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south.
