FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

!!! BRADY SHORT TAKES #3 !!!

JOHN DEMOSSS TAKES #2

CHRIS DEWEESE WINS FIRST OF THE SEASON

BLOOMINGTON, IN (August 4, 2006) - Last night members of the South Central Building and Construction Trades Council unions showed up in mass to enjoy the exciting racing action at Bloomington Speedway. They and the other fans on hand were treated to three of the best feature races of the season so far. In addition the weather was very nearly perfect.

SPRINT CARS -

Last night was Brady Short's night. His good fortune began when he pulled the number one pill to earn the right to start on the pole of the first heat race. However, it was a pretty tough heat as Dickie Gaines, Bobby Stines, four time Bloomington Speedway sprint car champion, and both Carmichaels. Those are some pretty tough competitors to beat; but he got the job done. Gaines, Kenny Carmichael, Jr., and Scheffel joined Short in transferring toe the feature.

Kent Christian drove from his fifth place starting to win the second feature. Josh Cunningjham, seventeen year old Arin McIntosh and Brett Burdette picked up the rest of the tickets to the feature event.

Chris Windom started sixth and won the third feature followed by Brent Beauchamp, John Memmer, and Mitch Cunningham. Rookie Memmer was impressive driving from his seventh place starting position to a transfer to the feature.

Casey Shuman started on the pole and won the fourth heat followed by Jared Fox, Jon Sciscoe, and Kevin Briscoe. Tim Spindler started last and just missed transferring the feature by finishing fifth in heat race.

Bobby Stines and Ty Deckard started side by side on the front row of the "B" feature; and Stines won followed by Deckard, Kenny Carmichael, Sr., and Jimmy Light.

Brady Short's good fortune continued when he pulled the number one pill in the redraw to start on the pole of the feature. The balance of the redraw was Josh Cunningham, Dickie Gaines, Casey Shuman, Kent Christian, Jared Fox, Brent Beauchamp, and Chris Windom.

When the green flag waved to start the feature, a battle began which endure for the entire 25 laps of the feature event. Brady Short took the initial lead; and by the end of the first circuit Dickie Gaines was on his tail. He passed short on lap three; and Short recaptured the lead on lap 11. On lap 13 Gaines took the lead back and held it until the final circuit. However, this doesn't begin to describe the show that Short and Gaines put on. The lead changed several times a lap for the entire race. Depending on the angle that you were watching from, it appeared that it was either driver's race as Gaines and Short came out of turn four. However, as they approached the finish line Short nosed ahead; and he won by a few inches. It would be easy to call this a birthday present for Brady whose birthday is today; however, this was certainly no gift. Anytime you outrun Gaines, Kevin Briscoe, Kent Christian, and Derek Scheffel on the red clay of Bloomington Speedway, you've earned that win.

Chris Windom finished third followed by Kevin Briscoe drove to a strong fourth place finish after starting 16th. Kent Christian came home fifth.

Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks:

This has been a big, big week Chris Deweese; and the biggest deal had absolutely nothing to do with Bloomington Speedway or even racing. The big deal was that he got to take his new twin daughters home from the hospital on Thursday. They will be joining the eight year old twins. Chris had better win a lot of Tire & Wheel Center super stock races as he is going to have a lot of college and weddings to pay for.

Chris pulled the number one pill to start the Tire & Wheel Center super stock feature on the pole followed by Joe Lucas, points leader Jeremy Hines, Winston Howe, Danny Harris, and Jack Frye. When the green flag waved Deweese charged into the lead that he would hold for the entire 25 laps of the feature. It was clear that nobody had anything for Deweese. After each yellow flag Chris would simply drive away from his pursuers.

Joe Lucas and Hines provided the real battle of the race with each of them wanting the win but knowing that second was likely to be their best outcome. Lucas finished second ahead of Hines, Winston Howe, Jack Frye, and Danny Harris.

The first order of busienss for the Deweese crew on arriving in victory lane was to peal the For Sale sign off of the sign of Deweese's obviously new mount. Chris commented, "We just decided to keep it."

In preliminary action, Winston Howe, Jack Frye, and Deweese won the heat races; and Kevin Arthur won the "B" feature.

0'NEAL WOOD PRODUCTS MODIFIEDS -

In the O'Neal Wood Product modified division the redraw put Josh Eads and John DeMoss side by side on the front row of the feature. It was the second week in a row that Eads started the feature on the pole. DeMoss passed Eads to take the lead on the first lap; and he led him for the entire 25 circuits. Eads held on to finish second.

On the seventh lap Jeff Bland, Jr. passed Richie Lex to take third place. He managed to hold onto third place for the balance of the feature. Kent Robinson and Shelby Miles rounded out the top five.

In preliminary O'Neal Wood Products Modified action Bland, Greg Deckard, and Lex took the heat races; and Matt Bex prevailed in the "B" feature.
