FORD RACING NOTES AND QUOTES Kroger 200 (Busch), Page

August 5, 2006 O'Reilly Raceway Park at
Indianapolis

GREG BIFFLE-16-Ameriquest Mortgage Ford Fusion (Finished 4th) - HOW WAS
YOUR CAR TONIGHT? "We adjusted on it. I don't know what happened
practicing in the daytime. I felt like I had my car pretty good and
then in qualifying it wasn't that good, and in the race, I was just a
little bit tight and when I went back to the gas I couldn't fix it. I
just hung in there and got my track position and got the Ameriquest
Fusion in the top five." HOW IS YOUR CUP CAR FOR TOMORROW'S RACE? "To
be quite honest with you, I have been absolutely terrible the whole
weekend. I mean so upset that I'm almost sick to my stomach that I
can't get my car to run at all over there at Indianapolis. Then the
last practice session, we changed a bunch of stuff and finally got the
race car running again. I'm really, really happy with it and it looks
like we're running top-five, top-eight lap times now. We had a good
qualifying run and qualified seventh, so all of a sudden just in the
last little bit, it looks like our weekend has turned around for

DANNY O'QUINN, JR.-50-Roush Racing Ford Fusion (Finished 6th, Top
Rookie) - A CAREER-BEST FINISH TONIGHT. DID YOU SURPRISE YOURSELF IN
YOUR FIRST RACE AT ORP? "I know I can do it and I know the team can do
it. We just had to put it all together and tonight we did. I know we
can do this and I've known it all along. As tough of a deal as the
Busch Series is, you've got to have all of the stars lined up for you to
run in the top 10. We're working towards that right now. Probably two
or three cars are all that passed us the whole race. We passed a lot of
cars. We had a top-five car there, really. We got caught up behind
some lapped traffic with a couple of laps to go and cost us a top-five.
The car was awesome. We were as good as some of the cars in front of
us, just track position is everything here." WAS IT INTIMIDATING SEEING
JEFF BURTON IN YOUR REARVIEW MIRROR IN THE CLOSING LAPS? "No, I'll tell
you one thing, he ran me as clean as anybody out there. I don't think
he put a fender on me. It was a lot of fun racing those guys. You
learn a lot and we all have aspirations of racing with these guys some
day. What better way to earn their respect than racing with them in the
Busch Series?"

CARL EDWARDS-60-Ameriquest Mortgage Ford Fusion (Finished 10th) - "That
was fun with Keller at the end." YOU BATTLED BACK FROM SOME ADVERSITY
TONIGHT. "I sped on pit road on accident coming in. I had it in the
wrong gear. I had it in third and I thought it was second. Then I got
together with the 88 car and ripped the right-rear fender off of it, and
it was just so loose after that. I don't know if it was the fender or
something else happened. It was too loose and that was all I could get.
As loose as it was, 10th was awesome." YOU RACE ON THE BIG TRACK
TOMORROW. DO YOU PREFER ON TRACK OVER THE OTHER? "It just depends. In
the beginning of the race, I was having a blast. We went from 22nd to
11th and we were passing people all over, and it was crazy. I had a
good time. All race tracks are fun, but this one is real fun."

REGAN SMITH-35-McDonald's Ford Fusion (Finished 11th) - "We've been
working real hard on our race cars, and I think it's starting to show
up. Last week we qualified really well and just missed it a little in
the race. The week before that, we raced well at Martinsville, and
raced good in New Hampshire, but we got wrecked there. The McDonald's
Ford Fusion has really been coming around and I'm happy with these guys.
The pit stops have been great. That's one thing that we picked up that
has helped a lot. Race cars drivers, when they get cars that are good,
look really good and I had one tonight. I'm just proud of my guys for
that."

STACY COMPTON-59-Kingsford/Bush's Baked Beans Ford Fusion (Finished
12th) - "We've had a lot of good finishes here, and my hat's off to the
guys on the Kingsford Ford. Jay (Guy, crew chief) and them did a good
job. We started so far back that it put us in a little bit of a
deficit. We had a good race car, but track position was just so
important and we couldn't get any track position. We kept working on
the car during the cautions and the guys made great pit stops, 13-second
stops, but we were pulling springs rubbers and doing things to make the
car better, so we never could really get the track position we wanted
to. All in all, it was a good day. To come away with a top-12 from
where we started is not bad. It's not what we wanted, but we're still
building momentum."
