Summer Cycling Series Returns to Sonoma, Aug. 10
WHAT:
Cycling and the world of motor sports come together for three more weeks
in August with the continuation of the Infineon Raceway Cycling Series
(IRCS). The series features racing on the 12-turn 2.52 mile road course;
the same course used during major events such as NASCAR, AMA, and IRL.
More than $1,700 in cash and prizes will be on the line throughout the
Summer Series.
WHERE:
Infineon Raceway, Highways 37 and 121, Sonoma, 95476.
WHEN:
* The Summer Cycling Series will run on the following Thursdays:
Aug. 10, 17, 31.
* Registration begins each week at 5:15 p.m., with the official
race start at 6:30 p.m.
AT STAKE:
More than $1,700 in cash and prizes will be on the line. Scoring for
each series will be based on the NASCAR points system.
COURSES:
10 laps on the 12-turn, 2.52-mile road course.
IN ADDITION
A FREE children's lap around the track, under adult supervision, will be
held at 5:30 p.m. each week.
COST:
$15 per week and a 2006 United States Cycling Federation (USCF) license
is required. FREE one-day licenses are available. Juniors (under 18) and
children are free but must have a parent or guardian signature. Events
will take place, rain or shine.
