Troconis to make Nascar debut at Watkins Glen International
Eddyville, KY– Mexico native Eduardo Troconis will make his first start on the NASCAR Busch Series at Watkins Glen International on August 12, 2006. Troconis will drive the #23 Chevrolet for Keith Coleman Racing in his first event of his two year contract with the team.
“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to drive in the NASCAR Busch Series,” said Troconis. “After five months of working with the team my time has finally come. I’ve already proved my knowledge and experience and have earned the respect of my crew by working alongside them. It feels very good to have their support.”
Troconis attended his first race when he was just one month old with his father, Alex Troconis, Director of Technical and Safety for NASCAR Mexico.
He began racing Go Karts at the tender age of 6 and when he was 14 he won the Rookie of the Year Award in the Formula Vee Series. In 1996 he became the youngest driver to win a FIA Formula 3 sanctioned event at the age of 15.
He won his first Championship in the Formula 3 International in 1999, the Rookie of the Year Award in the Indy Lights de las Americas in 2000 and his second Formula 3 Championship in 2002.
Troconis began racing stock cars in 2004 when he recorded five top-ten finishes in five events on the Desafio Corona Series in Mexico. He followed that up by competing for the championship on the Desafio Corona NASCAR Mexico Series in 2005.
Troconis was born in Veracruz on the Gulf of Mexico and later moved to Mexico City. He holds a college degree in business management and a graduate degree in marketing and currently resides in Princeton, Ky. where he has been working in the race shop at KCR since April.
“Eddie is a very talented young driver that we are very excited to have in our organization,” said Keith Coleman, team owner. “He’s had an incredible amount of success racing in Mexico, Central America and South America and he has earned the chance to drive against the best drivers in the world.”
