ButtKicker(R) Becomes 'Lifesaver(TM)'
WESTERVILLE, Ohio, Aug. 2, 2006 -- The Guitammer Company Inc., makers of ButtKicker(R) brand low frequency audio transducers, today announced that its Lifesaver(TM) hazard awareness system for motor vehicles is being tested by top automotive manufacturers and tier one suppliers.
The Lifesaver system accurately mimics highway rumble strips. Rumble strips have proven effective for alerting drivers when they veer off the road. However, many roads are not yet equipped with rumble strips. Optical readers can now be used to detect when a vehicle crosses a white line, triggering Lifesaver transducers to electronically "vibrate" the driver's seat, simulating rumble strips. GPS systems may also be incorporated in the future.
In addition, vehicle radar systems may be used with the Lifesaver system to warn the driver when his vehicle rapidly approaches the rear end of a forward vehicle, or is being approached too quickly or too closely by a vehicle from the rear.
"The Lifesaver system provides a combination of powerful vibration, accurate frequency response and proven longevity, making it an ideal, cost- effective solution for this rapidly-evolving vehicle safety science called hazard awareness," states Ken McCaw, Guitammer Company founder and director of product development. "Technology designed to instantly warn drivers of dangerous highway situations could save thousands of lives."
ButtKicker brand transducers are now used in military flight simulators, medical research and hundreds of entertainment applications. These transducers effectively reproduce the "feeling" range of audio.
Guitammer markets the patented ButtKicker brand audio transducers and related accessories for home theater, car audio, video gaming, professional audio and movie theaters. ButtKicker brand transducers are used by many top performers and entertainment producers, such as: Disney, IMAX, The Rolling Stones, Shania Twain, The Tonight Show Band, Green Day, American Idol Tour and Universal Studios. When used with a vehicle audio system, ButtKicker transducers virtually eliminate community noise ordinance issues, without sacrificing sound quality or power.
