NST Returns to SSP on Thursday Night, August 3
NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (August 1, 2006) - The National Sprint Tour featuring Steve Kinser, Brian Paulus, Tim Kaeding and Danny Lasoski returns to the Susquehanna Speedway Park in a history making way on Thursday night, August 3 with two separate feature events. Along with the Sprint Cars, fans will see the Xtreme Stock Cars and Penn Mar Vintage Cars.
With the help of Central PA based Arnold Transportation and Jake's Carts, SSP is also proud to announce that the general admission ticket price for Adults has been reduced from $30.00 to $20.00. All advance ticket purchasers currently holding tickets for either June 9 or August 3 may visit the SSP souvenir stand for their choice of either a $14.00 Adult general admission ticket to be used at a later date or $10.00 in SSP gift certificates. The ticket holder must present the ticket to be punched at this time.
The racing events scheduled for Friday night, June 9 were canceled due to afternoon thunderstorms hitting the speedway grounds. Advance ticket sale purchases for Friday, June 9 may use the ticket at the front gate for admission on Thursday, August 3 for the return of the National Sprint Tour to central Pennsylvania.
The NST will run its normal round of qualifying, followed by heats, dashes to set the first six rows, B Main, then a 25 lap A-main presented by Arnold Transportation. This first A-Main will pay 75% of the normal purse ($7,500-to-win). Following the first A-Main, there will be an approximate 15 minute break to weigh the finishers and put in fuel, but no new right rear tires. Then, the entire field will return to the track for a 15lap "A Plus Main" presented by Jake's Carts. The field will be set as follows: all cars on the lead lap of the first A-main will be inverted; all cars not on the lead lap will start behind the inverted field. The purse will be for the balance of the 25% not paid in the first A-Main.
As Lonnie Parsons of the #6 Casey's General Store car driven by Dean Jacobs put it: "I know what the fans are going to think: they'll love it. And rightfully so. I think it will be exciting to try something a little different, and how could there be anything wrong with encouraging passing. Knoxville used to do something like this and those sure were exciting races. I hope our fans at SSP enjoy it."
Gates will open for both the pit area and grandstand area at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3. Qualifying begins at 6:30 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:30 p.m. There is no Repeat Fan Discount for this event as the ticket prices have already been lowered. Grandstand ticket prices are Adults & Teens (13 & older) $20.00; Children (6 - 12) $12.00; and Children (5 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $32.00 with a reduced rate for SSP license holders.
Then on Friday night, August 4, it will be Camera & Autograph Night featuring the ARDC Midgets, Late Models, Classic Cars and Women on Wheels Stock Cars in competition along with a York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van Snake Race. All fans will have the opportunity to meet their favorite drivers with their cars on the frontstretch before the feature events.
Gates will open for both the pit area and grandstand area at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 4. Warmups begin at 7:00 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:30 p.m. Race fans can continue to expect a fast paced, action packed 2 ½ to 3 hour program each and every night.
Grandstand ticket prices for Friday, July 28 are Adults (18 & older) $12.00; Teens (13-17) $8.00; and Children (12 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a reduced rate for SSP license holders.
There will be an SSP Repeat Fan Discount of $2.00 for each person with a ticket stub from the July 3, July 28 and August 3 events. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during the season for great prizes. Last season, 10 winners were drawn from the repeat fans and each winner received $30.00 in SSP Gift Certificates for tickets or concessions. The discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.
