Glencoe Camp Resort and Anheuser-Busch Help Keep Re-cycling Top of Mind for Bikers at Sturgis
Campers at Glencoe Camp Resort will be able to help the environment and raise funds for the Greater Sturgis Lifecare Foundation by recycling used beverage containers
STURGIS, S.D., Aug. 1 -- Glencoe Camp Resort is the home away from home for many of the bikers that will attend the week-long bike festival in Sturgis, SD. This year campers will be able to do something at their campground that they may also do at home -- recycle. Glencoe Camp Resort has teamed up with Anheuser-Busch and Ace Steel and Recycling to place more than 900 recycling bins throughout the campground and amphitheater. In addition, all campsites will receive blue recycling bags to collect their used aluminum beverage containers.
Glencoe Camp Resort is one of the largest camp resorts for the more than 500,000 motorcycle enthusiasts planning to attend Sturgis. With that many fans in attendance, there is a tremendous potential for recycling the large number of beverage containers that will be generated during the bike festival from August 7-13. Proceeds from the recyclables collected will be donated to the Greater Sturgis Lifecare Foundation.
"We're proud to work with Anheuser-Busch and Ace Steel Recycling on such a worthwhile environmental project," said Gary Lippold, Glencoe Camp Resort president. "Our campers will be more than happy to participate knowing they are helping the environment while raising funds for the Greater Sturgis Lifecare Foundation."
"This program gives Glencoe campers who are concerned about the environment, the opportunity to recycle their used beverage containers," said Tom Flood, Anheuser-Busch Recycling Corporation Region Manager. "Glencoe's support and commitment to the recycling effort will help keep a significant number of used beverage containers from reaching the landfill. They're a top notch organization to work with."
Anheuser-Busch's environmental partner, Living Lands and Waters will be acting as the Budweiser Green Team and will be assisting Glencoe's maintenance staff with the collection of used beverage containers from campsites. In addition to assisting Glencoe's maintenance staff, the Budweiser Green Team will be promoting recycling as they walk through the campgrounds and will be rewarding people who are "caught" recycling.
The program is simple -- campers can either place their used beverage cans and plastic bottles in the recycling containers located throughout the camp resort and amphitheater or they can fill their blue recycling bags and place them by the closest waste containers for daily pick up by the Budweiser Green Team.
Glencoe Camp Resort opened in the summer of 1983 and is named after a majestic valley in the Highlands of Scotland. The Resort is currently over 600 acres featuring tent camping, RV sites, a full-service convenience store, an amphitheater, and Thunder Road.
