A BUSY WEEK AHEAD FOR ROCKETSPORTS RACING

EAST LANSING, Michigan (August 1, 2006) – The East Lansing-based Rocketsports Racing’s race shop will be pretty empty this week, as the Grand American Rolex Series Rocketsports Daytona Prototype car will be out testing at the GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan on Tuesday and Wednesday followed by a two-day Champ Car test at Road American in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin at the end of the week.

Rocketsports Racing is known for its many years of racing in the Trans Am Series, which unfortunately came to an end last year. This year, the team wanted to continue Sports Car racing and purchased a Ford-Crawford Daytona Prototype race car to compete in a handful of races in the Grand American Rolex Series. In continuation of learning the new racecar, Rocketsports will take the #50 Rocketsports DP car on a test to prepare for upcoming events the team will be participating in.

In addition to the driver line up of Rocketsports team owner Paul Gentilozzi and former Trans Am teammate Tomy Drissi, Champ Car driver of the #18 Flexovit Abrasive/Rocketsports car Tonis Kasemets will join the team in Michigan to try out the team’s other race car. Kasemets will be a part of the team when they compete in the Discount Tire Sunchaser 9 hour race at Miller Motorsport Park in Utah, August 31- September 2.

Kasemets will then head to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin to run in his #18 Champ Car in preparation for the late-September event at Road America. The Estonian driver signed a six-race deal with the team to run in 2006. He has made four Champ Car starts, and will return to the Champ Car field for Round 12 of the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford when the series returns to Road America after a one-year hiatus.

The Rocketsports team will test both the #18 and #8 Champ Cars on Thursday and Friday at Road America, running both Kasemets and Nicky Pastorelli.

The Champ Car team will return to the shop to prepare the cars and pack up for their next event in Denver, Colorado on August 11-13. The Rocketsports Champ Car team has been quite busy and getting just a little homesick as they will be returning from back-to-back events in Edmonton and San Jose before testing and leaving again for Denver, Colorado. But that’s racing, and they are geared up to continue during this really busy time on the racing schedule.
