Porsche Cars North America Reports July Sales for Canada; Fiscal Year Results Released
ATLANTA--Aug. 1, 2006--Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the United States and Canada, today announced sales of 133 new cars for the month of July in Canada, a percentage drop of 19 percent.For the year, Porsche has recorded sales of 1,242, which is 5 percent below last year's record pace. 2005 was the best sales year in Canada in the company's history.
July 31 marked the end of Porsche's fiscal year 05/06. PCNA closed the 2006 fiscal year with total North American sales of 36,669 new cars, an increase of 7 percent over the previous fiscal year when sales were 33,974. The total is the best fiscal sales result in the history of Porsche in North America. By model, Porsche sold 10,701 of its Boxsters/Cayman series (up 65 percent), 12,534 911s (up 18 percent), and 13,217 Cayennes (down 27 percent).
"Our past fiscal year has seen monthly sales records for 6 of the past 12 month, a noteworthy feat considering the state of flux in the automotive industry today," said Peter Schwarzenbauer, PCNA President and CEO. "While there are many factors that contribute to a successful fiscal year and our strong sales performance, the most significant factor has been the introduction of the Cayenne back in 2003 that has helped boost our sales more than 50 percent in the past three years."
In addition, dealers sold 35 Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned cars in July, compared to 29 in 2005.
