ModViz Announces Support for New NVIDIA Quadro Plex VCS; Virtual Graphics Platform(TM) Redefines Professional 3D Graphics on a Workstation; Optimizes 3D Graphics on Multi-core, Multi-GPU Systems

BOSTON--Aug. 1, 2006--ModViz, Inc. announced today that its Virtual Graphics Platform(TM) (VGP(TM)), a leading OpenGL-based software solution that transparently virtualizes 3D graphics intensive applications across multiple graphics processing units (GPUs) and multiple CPU cores, now supports the new NVIDIA Quadro(R) Plex, the world's first dedicated visual computing system (VCS). A significant step forward for 3D graphics technology, the ModViz VGP software solution combined with the NVIDIA Quadro Plex VCS delivers to professional 3D visualization users and application developers a robust multi-GPU graphics sub-system for optimal graphics performance and maximum 3D data throughput.

By delivering an order-of-magnitude increase in levels of productivity and capability for advanced visualization, Quadro Plex offers advanced scalable visual computing in a desktop or 3U rackmount configuration for demanding professional applications powering multiple streams of 4K HD, styling and design, scientific and medical visualization, oil and gas exploration, and visual simulation and training.

Sharing a common goal with the NVIDIA Quadro Plex VCS, ModViz's VGP optimizes graphics performance and improves 3D data throughput by using multiple central processing unit (CPU) cores to transparently divide and distribute rendering tasks over multiple GPUs. Designed as an OpenGL-based computing platform, VGP delivers supercomputing level visualization with extreme data size and scalability on multi-GPU systems. With VGP on an NVIDIA Quadro Plex, graphics application developers will be able to access immense graphics power without the need to rewrite their code. 3D visualization users will be able to improve their applications' graphics performance and workflow in a scalable fashion.

"Our VGP software combined with the NVIDIA Quadro Plex sets a new milestone for professional 3D graphics on a workstation," said Tom Coull, chief executive officer of ModViz, Inc. "With users confronting the challenge of continued exponential growth of digital data, it's imperative that their mainstream 3D graphics applications take full advantage of today's multi-core, multi-GPU systems. VGP enables them to enjoy the 3D graphics power and resulting benefits of the NVIDIA Quadro Plex VCS with minimal change to their workflow."

"ModViz's VGP is a powerful graphics virtualization software that takes advantage of multiple GPUs for advanced 3D visualization," says Jeff Brown, general manager, NVIDIA Professional Solutions Group. "When coupled with the new NVIDIA Quadro Plex visual computing system, users can remove the graphics performance barriers often associated with workstation graphics to achieve breakthrough visual computing."
