Softier Launches WAVE-400 Second-Generation Multi-Service IP Set-Top Box at IBC 2006

RA'ANANA, Israel--Aug. 1, 2006--IP set-top box (STB) and client application software provider Softier (www.softier.com) announced today that it will exhibit at IBC 2006, Sept. 8-12 in Amsterdam where the company will demonstrate a range of STB products targeted to IPTV operators and service providers delivering advanced services such as video on demand, live TV and gaming to the home. The company will also announce new customer deployments and successful integration with worldwide systems integrators.

The highlight of the show will be the launch of Softier's WAVE-400 STB. The WAVE-400 is a second generation IP-STB platform with the fundamental combination of hardware and software that will enable time cost-effective multi-play service delivery, including the capability for operators to integrate two-way video communications, VoIP, time-shifting and place-shifting - all within a single box.

The WAVE-400 is based on Texas Instrument's (TI) second-generation media DSP, the Davinci(TM) System-on-a-Chip. WAVE-400 offers Softier's highly extensible and field-proven TV applications API; multiple GUI development technologies such as HTML, Flash and Java; and comprehensive management and configuration tools allowing fast integration with leading IPTV service platforms.

Other Softier product demonstrations at IBC, all supporting multi codec engines (audio and video), will include the WAVE-300 STB. Softier's first generation IP-STB is now delivering high-quality video content and powerful interactivity in thousands of homes worldwide. Based on TI's highly efficient DM643 architecture and unique Linux technology, the WAVE-300 is the first product to implement full support for H.264 Main Profile video while keeping costs at levels that satisfy Telco and ISP needs.

Softier has developed its STBs and accompanying software under one API (application programming interface) to ensure:

-- Accelerated integration with existing partners and assists in adding additional members to the ecosystem

-- Flexibility for operators enabling multiple offerings for consumers (price/features)

-- Independence of silicon architectures enables best of breed technology without impacting existing deployments

Additionally, Softier's consistent API ensures integration with leading partners in VOD servers, encoders, middleware and encryption.

Softier will hold live demos by appointment at the Hilton RAI. The company will also hold product demonstrations at the Texas Instruments stand at IBC as well as the stands of several additional partners.
