Detroit Diesel's Series 60(R) Rates No. 2 on '10 Best Diesel Engines Ever' List

Publication Gives Kudos to Industry-Leading Engine

DETROIT, July 31 -- Detroit Diesel Corporation's flagship Series 60 heavy-duty diesel engine was recently recognized by Diesel Power Magazine as the No. 2 ranked "Best Diesel Engine Ever" on a list compiled by the publication. The No. 1 ranking went to Rudolph Diesel's first working diesel engine. Rudolph Diesel is considered the "father" of the modern diesel engine.

Since its launch in 1987, Detroit Diesel has manufactured more than 850,000 Series 60 engines. The engine, which was the first heavy-duty diesel engine with fully integrated electronic controls, has led the industry for on- highway diesel power. Additionally, since 1992, the engine has been North America's most popular heavy-duty on-highway diesel engine.
