SONOMA, Calif. (July 31, 2006) - Tony Pedregon and his Q Power Race Team
raced into another final round at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. in the
Nitro Funny Car division during the NHRA Nationals this past weekend, his
fourth final of the season (he has won all in all three previous final-round
appearances).  Although eventually losing to Eric Medlen during this
match-up, he moved into third place in the 2006 point standings after the
strong showing in Sonoma.

 

"The Q Power Team had a good weekend in Sonoma," said Pedregon.  "We were
one cylinder away from winning that final round.  If we wouldn't have been
handicapped by having to run on seven cylinders, we would have won the race.
Our car was really predictable in the previous three rounds we ran between
4.90 and 4.91, which confirms that we are able to race our car consistently.
Our next goal is to merge that kind of consistency with more performance,
and that should give us momentum going into Brainerd.  We'll review the
information we gathered from this race and hopefully come out on top in the
next race.  Although we moved into third in the point standings, we'll keep
pressing the competition, which is what we expect from our team and for our
sponsors."
