Vandergriff sitting in No. 6 in Sonoma

2006 NHRA POWERade DRAG RACING SERIES
Round 15 of 23
Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals
Infineon Raceway
Sonoma, Calif.
Race Date: July 28-30, 2006

SONOMA, Calif., (July 28, 2006)- As the first day of qualifying at the FRAM
Autolite NHRA Nationals came to an end, Bob Vandergriff Jr. found his UPS Top
Fueler sitting in the No.6 position in the Top Fuel ladder. After a
tire-smoking first lap on a newly assembled chassis, crew chief Jim Dupuy interpreted
what the car needed and made the adjustments that produced a 4.607 second run at
321.12 mph.

"We are certainly pleased with the 4.60," said Vandergriff. "The second run
gives us the optimism that we are headed down the road with a more consistent
racecar. The car responded nicely and is giving us what we were hoping for."
