Mazda Reports Profit Surge
Washington DC July 28, 2006; The AIADA newsletter reported that Mazda Motor Corp. reported a surge in its quarterly profit amid solid sales of its minivan and sport convertible models in the U.S. and Europe, reports The Wall Street Journal.
The automaker posted a group net income of U.S. $57 million in the April-June quarter. "We have achieved year-on-year profit gains across the board for the first quarter [and] Mazda's midterm business plan ... continues on track," said Mazda Representative Director and Chief Financial Officer David E. Friedman. Strong sales of the Mazda5 minivan and Mazda MX-5 Miata sports car in the American and European markets lifted revenues.
