GM Nissan: Ghosn Sets High Expectations on Potential Alliance

Washington DC July 28, 2006; The AIADA newsletter reported that Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn said yesterday that his companies would form an alliance with General Motors only if the gains exceeded the risks by 10 times, reports The Detroit Free Press.
He did not explicitly state how quickly those gains from the joint venture would have to be achieved. But his comments left at least some analysts wondering whether he was trying to downplay the chance of a deal among the three companies by setting such a high target.
Both Renault-Nissan and GM have agreed to study the partnership's potential for 90 days.
