SSP Cancels Racing Events for Thursday Night
Newberrytown, PA (July 27, 2006) - The racing events scheduled for Thursday night, July 27 have been postponed due to severe late afternoon thunderstorms that hit the track around 5:00 p.m. There is no raindate for this event and it will not be made up at a later date. The make up Sprint Car postponed from June 22 will be run on Thursday, August 17.

On Friday night, July 28, the Trail Motors Super Sportsman, Late Models and Street Stocks will be in competition along with Kid's Box Car racing. To start the night off, a 20-lap Late Model feature postponed due to rain last week will be first on the program. Later that evening, the second Late Model feature of the evening will be run.
Many prizes will be available for all entrants in the Kid's Box Car Races. All children 12 and under are encouraged to decorate their boxes and compete in the races. A box car is a racecar made out of a box (with their arms, legs and head sticking out). Two family members or friends are needed for the pit crew. This will be a two-(2) lap race (on the frontstretch) with a pit stop. The pit stop will include taking off and putting shoes back on both feet for tire changes, washing the face to clean windshield and drinking a drink for fuel.
Friday will also be the second race of a four race series for all Street Stock drivers who are 21 years of age and younger to compete in a five lap dash race presented by Clean Technologies. The winner of the dash will receive $100.00 with second place collecting $50.00. Both third and fourth place finishers will receive $25.00 each. The driver with the best cumulative finishes over the four race series will receive $200.00. The final two races of the series will be Friday, August 18 and Friday, September 1.
Gates will open for both the pit area and grandstand area at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28. Warmups begin at 7:00 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:30 p.m. Race fans can continue to expect a fast paced, action packed 2 ½ to 3 hour program each and every night.
Grandstand ticket prices for Thursday, July 27 are Adults (18 & older) $14.00; Teens (13 - 17) $10.00; and Children (12 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $22.00 with a reduced rate for SSP license holders.
Grandstand ticket prices for Friday, July 28 are Adults (18 & older) $12.00; Teens (13-17) $8.00; and Children (12 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a reduced rate for SSP license holders.
There will be an SSP Repeat Fan Discount of $2.00 for each person with a ticket stub from the June 30, July 20 and July 21 events. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during the season for great prizes. Last season, 10 winners were drawn from the repeat fans and each winner received $30.00 in SSP Gift Certificates for tickets or concessions. The discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.
The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south. Ticket Prices Reduced to $20.00 for the August 3 National Sprint Tour Event - With the help of Central PA based Arnold Transportation and Jake's Carts, SSP is proud to announce that the general admission ticket price for Adults has been reduced from $30.00 to 20.00 for the August 3 National Sprint Tour event featuring Steve Kinser, Tim Kaeding and Danny Lasoski. All advance ticket purchasers currently holding tickets for either June 9 or August 3 may visit the SSP souvenir stand for their choice of either a $14.00 Adult general admission ticket to be used at a later date or $10.00 in SSP gift certificates. The ticket holder must present the ticket to be punched at this time.
More Information About Friday, June 9 National Sprint Tour Cancellation - The racing events scheduled for Friday night, June 9 have been canceled due to afternoon thunderstorms hitting the speedway grounds. The event will not be made up. Friday August 18 Date WILL NOT Moved to Saturday, August 19 - Due to the lack of SSP staff available for the racing events to be moved to from Friday night, August 18 to Saturday night, August 19, the events will remain on Friday, August 18. The night will feature the Trail Motors Super Sportsman, Late Models, Street Stocks and a Mini Van Construction race.
ASCS Sprint Car Meeting Scheduled for Tuesday, August 22 - Emmett Hahn, the President of the ASCS (American Sprint Car Series), will hold a meeting in conjuction with the Susquehanna Speedway Park, on Tuesday, August 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the York County Racing Club building. ASCS sanctions Sprint Car racing nationally throughout the United States and is the largest of its kind. The ASCS meeting will present the introduction to the future of ASCS sanctioned racing in the Central Pennsylvania area.
The meeting is open to anyone interested in the series including drivers, owners, media and all others. Food and drinks will be available before the meeting. The York County Racing Club is located at 4255 North Susquehanna Trail in York, Pennsylvania. Due to construction of a nearby bridge, everyone is encouraged to use exit 25 (Emigsville exit) off I-83 and then go north on the Susquehanna Trail to reach the YCRC building.

Speedway Flea Market - The Sunday morning Speedway Flea Market will begin on August 6 at 6:00 a.m. There will be plenty of things for everyone. Vendor fees are $10.00 per day and setup begins at 5:30 a.m. Space will be limited to a "reasonable" amount for each vendor. Food and drink vendors are not permitted. This flea market will continue every Sunday throughout the rest of the year.
