Team JNE Consulting Second at the "Beach"

Sauble Beach, On; Current OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model point leader John Fletcher was side by side at the finish line with race winner Rob Clarke driving the London Mechanical/JBM Leasing #49. This only tells part of the story, the feature event at the 1/3 mile Sauble Speedway started with the 61 of Fletcher and Clarke third and forth on the grid. Clarke got a good jump on the outside lane as pole sitter and local to Sauble Beach Lloyd Ritchie was a little of pace and fell back to sixth place after 3 laps with John stuck behind him in seventh. Now the story begins, as the machine of Team JNE Consulting piloted by John was clear of the 62 car of Ritchie and now in sixth and a deficit of around 3 ½ seconds John began his march back to the front. The crowd was watching an incredible race as the first three cars where nose to tail and already lapping cars and by lap 15 it appeared that there may not be any cautions to bunch the field up. By the time John was back to forth and trailing the third place car of TJ Woosley of just 2 ½ seconds it looked like time might not be on his side. Then the action heated up Rob made a couple of moves on race leader Shane Maginnis as the laps clipped of at 14 ½ seconds a lap John was catching the lead pack running times in the 14.3's and 14.4's and in a mere few laps the Team JNE Consulting machine was on the tail off the 43 of TJ. Lap 32 came with the running order of Maginnis, Clarke, Woosley and Fletcher, by the end of lap 32 the running order was Clarke, Fletcher, Maginnis and Woosley. In a flash the two stars of OSCAAR dispatched the 03 and 43 and put on a race for the final 17 laps. It would appear that John was the fastest car of the two but on this tight oval and Rob using lapped traffic perfectly to prevent John from capitalizing on the chances to pass the two ran to the end and at the finish line for the checker Clarke was able to fend of Fletcher by a few feet to capture his first OSCAAR victory of 2006. John commented after the race "we came close a couple of times to get beside Rob but he never made a mistake and I wouldn't try to move him, we've raced here like this before and man I tell you its fun." All the cars that started the 50 lap feature event finished and rounding out the top five was Maginnis, Woosley and the 89 of Drew Spicer.

The OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Models once again filled the grandstands, ran a caution free race, left the race officials, track officials and all the racers talking about how exciting the race was.
