Howard Rice Wins $82.6 Million Verdict For Client In
Rollover Case Against Ford Motor Company
In what might be the largest single passenger recovery against an auto
company to be upheld by the California Court of Appeals, the court today
ruled Ford Motor Company must pay Benetta Buell-Wilson $102 million
following a 2002 car accident that left her a paraplegic.
Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk & Rabkin's Jerome B. Falk, Jr. was
retained to argue the case in the California Court of Appeals after the
woman's original attorneys from another law firm were conflicted out
following a merger of their firm. Falk represented the mother of two
from San Diego who originally won a $280 million jury verdict in her
products liability case against Ford Motor Company, arising from an
accident in her Ford Explorer. A judge later reduced the jury's award to
$150 million.
