SANTOS TAKES POLE FOR SATURDAY'S NATIONAL MIDGET FEATURE

WEST ALLIS, Wis. – Bobby Santos III continued his successful stint in a USAC
National Midget Car Series pavement car Friday at The Milwaukee Mile.

Santos, who leads the series in feature victories with three, set the fast
speed in qualifying and tomorrow will lead a 24-car field to the green flag
for the “Toyota USAC Midget 25” on the historic one-mile track.

Santos, of Franklin, Mass., sped to a lap of 128.576 mph (27.999 seconds),
doing so on the second lap of the third qualification session. Qualifying
was separated into third groups of eight cars, with the fastest of five laps
counting as the official time.

Billy Wease set the fastest time in the first session and will start
alongside Santos in the 25-lap race, having set a speed of 127.226 mph
(28.296 seconds). Michael Lewis and Dave Darland comprise of the second row
after setting identical speeds of 127.173 mph (28.308 seconds).

The “Toyota USAC Midget 25” is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. local time.

NOTES:

· The fast qualifying time for Bobby Santos III was his second of the
season. He also set fast time for the “Night Before the 500” at O’Reilly
Raceway Park. Santos proceeded won the 50-lap event.

· Dave Steele switched from the Nine Racing. No. 91 machine to the No. 19
mount after blowing an engine during morning practice. He was, however,
second fastest in the practice, and will start fifth in the feature after
taking a speed of 127.024 mph (28.341 seconds).
