The summer testing ban came along in fine style for Red Bull Racing today, as the team
ended the final test until after the Turkish Grand Prix, with Christian Klien posting a
competitive second fastest time.
With three grands prix in between now and the next test, tyre evaluation for the German,
Hungarian and Turkish Grands Prix was the main item on the agenda, with David and
Christian working on different tyre programmes, while Robert concentrated on data
acquisition work aimed more at long term development. "We had a couple of engine and
clutch related problems on the first two days, but we completed the programmes all the
same," said Chief Test Engineer, Ian Morgan. "Apart from tyres, we did more aerodynamic
development work, as well as testing power steering and suspension geometry. Overall it has
been an encouraging test and it's good to see our car near the top of the time sheet, which
hasn't happened in a while."
