Long ready for contact at Martinsville
Eddyville, KY. – The ride may be a little bumpy for Carl Long at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday. After all, the marketing slogan for the speedway is, ‘A New Meaning to Contact Sports.’
“It’s a short track so there will be a little bit of bumping but that’s part of the deal at a track like that,” Long said.
The Goody’s 250 will be the first NASCAR Busch Series event at the .526-mile oval since 1994 which means not many drivers have been on the track. To help the drivers get familiar with the Speedway, NASCAR is allowing an open practice session on Thursday.
“I’m looking forward to it,” said Long, who is one of the few drivers with experience on the track. “I’ve had good success there in late model races and I’m excited about getting a Busch car on the track.”
There are 47 entries for the Goody’s 250. Qualifying will take place at 12:00 noon on Saturday but will not be televised. The race will air live on NBC at 3:30 p.m. later that day. All times are eastern.
