McCumbee; Hillenburg Reunite For Pocono
LONG POND, PENNSYLVANIA (July 19, 2006) - - It’s a welcomed reunion. Former
ARCA RE/MAX Series champion Andy Hillenburg has reunited with former driver
and now NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) phenomenon Chad McCumbee to pilot
Hillenburg’s familiar No. 11 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS in Saturday’s ARCA
Pennsylvania 200 from Pocono Raceway.
The duo has had an busy 2006 season. After starting the NCTS season with MRD
Motorsports, McCumbee landed a full time gig with Green Light Racing driving
the No. 08 Chevrolet Silverado for former ARCA competitor Bobby Dotter. In
addition, McCumbee ran the first two races of the 2006 ARCA season for
Hillenburg with a best finish of 28th at Daytona International Speedway.
Hillenburg has been busy fielding an ARCA car for various drivers in
addition to running a full NASCAR Busch East Series (NBES) program for Canadian
driver Pierre Bourque.
With an off weekend for the two divisions, The Fast Track Racing team turn
their focus to the 12th event on the schedule and look to repeat their
exceptional performance from last season where McCumbee blasted his way from his
34th place qualifying effort to collect a second place finish to 2005 ARCA
champion Frank Kimmel.
The team is approaching the event looking for the same kind of magic.
“I’m looking forward to driving for Andy Hillenburg and returning to Pocono
Raceway this weekend,?? stated McCumbee, who rose to fame as Dale Earnhardt,
Jr. in ESPN’s “3??. “We had a great run last July and we’re looking forward
to the same results if not a win on Saturday.??
Despite the learning curve in the NCTS, McCumbee is looking forward to
returning to familiar territory. “I really haven’t been in the ARCA garage since
Nashville, but it will be great to return to the track and see some familiar
faces. Competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series hasn’t been easy, but I’
m learning a lot,?? continued McCumbee who sits 19th in NCTS standings with
one top-ten finish at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this year.
The team will unload a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS carrying sponsorship
from Fast Track Performance Driving School and Crescent Trucks with horsepower
provided by Wagner for the second ARCA event at Pocono Raceway this season. “
We have a new body on the car, so I think we’ll be in great shape this
weekend. Andy (Hillenburg) and the team has spent a lot of time preparing this car
and everyone is looking forward to good things all weekend,?? McCumbee added.
Rolling into Pocono, McCumbee a driving instructor for Hillenburg’s Fast
Track Performance Driving School has 26 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his resume
with a career best finish of second at Pocono Raceway (July 2005) while
holding nine additional top ten finishes including a fourth place finish at Pocono
Raceway in June of 2005. He also scored the Pork pole at Salem Speedway
(April 2005) followed by a career best superspeedway time trials effort of fifth
at Kentucky Speedway (May 2005), Pocono Raceway (June 2005) and Kansas
Speedway (July 2005).
In his first full season of competition last year, McCumbee finished a
strong fourth in the point standings.
The Pennsylvania 200 (80 laps/200 miles) is the 12th of 23 events on the
2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. Practice begins Friday, July 21st with an hour
and forty minute (10:00am-11:55am EST) session planned. Pork Pole qualifying
is Friday afternoon (1:45pm EST) with the race set to take the green flag on
Saturday, July 22nd at 1:00pm EST. The race will be televised live on SPEED.
