Stanbrough Leads ISW to Race #100

Jon Stanbrough of Jamestown, Ind. leads the "Indiana Sprint Week" standings after four of the seven scheduled races following back-to-back feature wins at Haubstadt and Kokomo. The series resumes Wednesday at Gas City I-69 Speedway and concludes with races Thursday at Lawrenceburg Speedway and Friday at the Terre Haute Action Track. Thursday's race at Lawrenceburg is the "Robbie Stanley Classic."

Wednesday night's Gas City race is the 100th in "Indiana Sprint Week" competition dating back to 1988. Cory Kruseman won last year's Gas City outing, while Dickie Gaines won at Lawrenceburg in 2005 and Levi Jones is the defending winner at Terre Haute.

Stanbrough was second in the "Indian Sprint Week" opener at North Vernon Thursday and 11th at Bloomington Friday and leads Mat Neely by 28 points in the standings going into Wednesday's Gas City race.

Neely won last Thursday's race at Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon, passing Shane Cottle on lap 26 and leading the final five laps in his Lucas Oil/Karavan Trailer Maxim/Gaerte. Stanbrough, Cottle, Jones and Darren Hagen rounded out the "top-five."

Brady Short of Bedford, Ind. earned his initial USAC feature win Friday at Bloomington, leading the last 15 laps in his Indiana Stone Works/Athenia Mason Supply Maxim/Scott's Performance machine to beat Neely, Jerry Coons Jr., Kevin Briscoe and Brad Sweet.

Stanbrough and his Jarvis Enterprises/AED Motorsports DRC/Foxco were spectacular at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt Saturday and at Kokomo Speedway Sunday, winning both 30-lappers. He led the last eight laps at Haubstadt and the final 14 at Kokomo. Bryan Clauson, Jones, Coons and Cory Kruseman trailed at Haubstadt, while Neely, Clauson, Scotty Weir and Dave Darland completed the "top-five" in Kokomo's "Bob Darland Classic."

Feature lap leaders in the four races included Stanbrough, Short, Neely, Darland, Jones, Cottle, Sweet, Dickie Gaines, Kent Christian and Bobby Stines.

Jones emerged from the four races with a three-point lead over Tony Stewart Racing teammate Josh Wise in the National standings.
