TONY PEDREGON AND THE Q POWER RACE TEAM FACE STIFF COMPETITION FROM ELEMENTS
IN DENVER

2006 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series
Round 13 of 23
Mile-High NHRA Nationals, Morrison, Colo.

Race Date: July 14-16, 2006

MORRISON, Colo. (July 17, 2006) - Tony Pedregon and his Q Power Race Team
raced into the quarterfinals at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo. (near
Denver) during the Mile-High NHRA Nationals this past weekend in the NHRA
Nitro Funny Car division. With air temperatures approaching 100 degrees,
track temperatures reaching 142 degrees, and in a race between Pedregon and
his brother Cruz, Pedregon lost traction which ultimately ended his day
during the second round of competition on Sunday. Pedregon retained fourth
place in the 2006 point standings.

"It was a missed opportunity," a disappointed Pedregon explained. "We had a
pretty quick turnaround - we were the last pair out for the first round,
then the first pair out for the second round. We took the car to the
starting line without enough time to make the adjustments we needed, and we
had too much temperature in the engine and clutch. Because of that, it
made the car too aggressive. That's something we'll work on and make sure
it doesn't happen again. We're anxious to go to Seattle and Sonoma where
we're closer to sea level."

Pedregon faced a familiar competitor in the second round of eliminations -
his brother, Cruz: "We are both competitive - we have been our whole lives.
When I heard we were paired up, I was encouraged that at least one of us
would get into the semi-final round, and I'm glad Cruz made it into the
finals. We always want to beat each other, but it didn't work out for the Q
Power Team this weekend. But all that does is make us work harder going to
into the next race."

In 2005, Tony Pedregon and the Q Power Race Team finished 7th in points with
two wins, was #1 qualifier three times and recorded the second quickest
elapsed time in NHRA history at 4.680 seconds in Chicago.
