Vandergriff exits in opening round
DENVER, Co., (July 16, 2006)- Bob Vandergriff Jr. came up a little short
in the opening round of the MOPAR Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere
Speedway on Sunday afternoon as record heat continued to dominate the area. The UPS
Top Fueler broke the tires loose shortly after launching against opponent
Hillary Will, running a 5.201 second pass to Will's winning 4.992.
Vandergriff qualified in the No. 10 position, putting him in the bottom
half of the field for the first time in three races. The Alpharetta, GA.
resident will be ready for a cool break as the NHRA POWERade tour moves to the cool
northwest city of Seattle, WA., for the running of the Schuck's Auto Parts
NHRA Nationals at Pacific Raceways next weekend.
Vandergriff currently sits in the No. 13 position in the NHRA POWERade
Championship points chase.
