FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UMRA TQ MIDGETS

FRIDAY - JULY 21

O'Neal Wood Products Modifieds

Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks

BLOOMINGTON, IN (July 16, 2006) - Bloomington Speedway will host another night of exciting racing action on Friday, July 21. The evening's racing will feature UMRA TQ Midgets, O'Neal Wood Products Modifieds, and Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks.

The UMRA TQ Midgets is one of the most competitive racing series in the nation. Some of its competitors are seasoned veterans who have raced the TQ's for decades. These guys love the cars and love the tough competition that they find in them every time they unload. There are also rookie drivers who are racing the TQ's as a step toward racing a sprint car, a stock car, or even an Indy Car. Whatever their long-term goals may be, their immediate goals are all the same - reaching the checkered flag before their fellows. Watching them race for their goal is what makes this series so popular wherever they race.

Last Friday night the UMRA TQ's were racing at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds in Columbus. One of the competitors was Nelson Stewart, Tony's father. While Nelson isn't generally expected a TQ race, he loves to race them when he can.

Bloomington Speedway is one of the longest track on which UMRA competes; and it will almost certainly be as well prepared as any they've ever seen. They can be expected to rise to the occasion.

Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $10 for this event (children 6 and under are admitted free to the grandstand when accompanied by a paying adult. Children 7 - 12 are admitted for $5 when accompanied by a paying adult.); and pit admission is $20. Coolers are permitted; but glass containers aren't. Overnight camping is also permitted.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CITY OF BLOOMINGTON EMPLOYEES NIGHT

BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY FEATURES SPRINTS, MODIFIEDS, & SUPER STOCKS

ON FRIDAY, JULY 28

BLOOMINGTON, IN (May 16) - The employees of the City of Bloomington will be joining us for a great evening of racing on July 28. The city employees work hard insuring that Bloomington remains a great place to live. And, when they take a break from their labors, they play hard too. Their trip to Bloomington Speedway will give them an opportunity to enjoy a great evening of racing with their friends and co-workers.

By the time that July 28th arrives our season should be more than half over. The drivers who have done well up until now will be enjoying their position at the top of the points standings. However, they will not be deluded into thinking that they should be comfortable there. A position in the points standings can go bad with a bad outing; and the competitors know it. For that reason, they will race every Friday night as if it were the final race of the season. On the other hand, those competitors who have had a bad start to their season know that they can still recover if they do their job well.

Bloomington Speedway will feature sprint cars, O'Neal Wood Products modifieds, and Tire and Wheel Center super stocks. All three classes typically show up in force every Friday night. The full pits that are a trademark of Bloomington Speedway insure a lot of racing. A typical program includes 12 heat races, 3 B features, and 3 features. At some tracks, a program like that could run to the wee hours of the morning. However, Mike Miles and his able staff do everything in their power to keep the program moving. And, the competitors know that when it's their time to race, they'd better be in the staging area and ready to go. Consequently, most are there when they need to be.

We really never know exactly which competitors will be racing with us on a regular basis until the season is underway. However, we can generally figure on most of our top competitors from the preceding season to return as well as a large portion of the rest of last year's competitors.

The top ten competitors in this year's points are::

Sprint Cars: 1. Kent Christian (574), 2. Kevin Briscoe (570), 3. Kenny Carmichael, Sr. (492), 4. Josh Cunningham (490), 5. Bobby Stines (458), 5. Kenny Carmichael, Jr. (458), 7. Jon Stanbrough (453), 8. Jon Sciscoe (451), 9. Steve Rone (429), 10. Mitch Cunningham (415)

O'Neal Wood Products Modifieds: 1. Kent Robinson (564), 2. John DeMoss (559), 3. Ryan Thomas (554), 4. Matt Boknecht (550), 5. Ray Humphrey (545), 6. Jeff Bland, Jr. (541), 7. Jess Cramer (597), 8. Clint DeMoss (492), 9. Richie Lex (467), 10. Bradley Sterrett (427)

Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks: 1. Jeremy Hines (599), 2. Greg Kendall (557), 3. Kevin Arthur (552), 4. Joe Lucas (536), 5. Greg Amick (527), 6. Winston Howe (520), 6. Jack Frye (519), 8. Troy Clark (509), 9. Steve Hollars (472), 10. Ben DuBois (469)

Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $10 for this event (children six and under are admitted free to the grandstand when accompanied by a paying adult; and children 7 - 12 are admitted for only $5 when accompanied by a paying adults.); and pit admission is $20. Coolers are permitted; but glass containers aren't. Overnight camping is also permitted.
