SSP Begins Exciting Second Half of the Season this Thursday and Friday with Lots of Action

NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (July 6, 2006) - After a two week break, the Susquehanna Speedway Park returns to action with a great schedule of exciting events throughout the remainder of the year.  The season will end on Saturday, November 11 with the 3rd Annual Turkey 200 Enduro race.

 

The next racing event will be Thursday night, July 20 with Sabko Enterprises Night at the Races featuring an action-packed night of entertainment for the entire family.  As a courtesy to Morgan Hughes and Justin Loh of the Williams Grove Speedway, SSP canceled its July 20 sprint car show featuring Twin 20 main events, but it will feature an action-packed racing program with the double features for the Xtreme Stock Cars (regular feature and postponed race for June 22), Women on Wheels Stock Cars, Great American School Buses in a "Bus Stop" race, Legend Cars, a Sprint Car wheelie contest to be judged by the fans, One-on-One Street Car Drags and a Members First Credit Union Kids Money Scramble.  At 6:45 p.m. all fans will also be given School Bus Rides around the track before the racing action begins.

The makeup feature event for the Xtreme Stock Car feature which was postponed due to rain on Thursday, June 22 will be run on Thursday night, July 20. If 19 or less cars take the green, the "double money" bonus will not be in effect.  This event was from the postponed events on Thursday, June 22. 

The Street Car Drags postponed from Thursday, June 1 have been rescheduled for Thursday night, July 20.  The following drivers are already entered - Patrick Cooper, Joel Hoffmaster Jr., Jared Beck and Nathan Yost.  The One-on-One Street Car Drags will pay $250.00 to win and entry forms are available at sspracing.net or by calling 717-292-1696.  The event is still open to new entrants.  

Then on Friday night, July 21, the Trail Motors Super Sportsman return along with the Late Models and Street Stocks.  It is also York County Racing Club Night and Christmas in July.  Santa will be making his annual summertime visit to SSP.  He is planning to bring plenty of toys for his toy scramble on the frontstretch of the track.  

Gates will open for both the pit area and grandstand area at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 20 and Friday, July 21.  Warmups begin at 7:00 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:30 p.m.  Race fans can continue to expect a fast paced, action packed 2 ½ to 3 hour program each and every night.  

Grandstand ticket prices for Thursday, July 20 are Adults & Teens (13 & older) $8.00 and Children (12 & under) are free.  Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a reduced rate for SSP license holders.   

Grandstand ticket prices for Friday, July 21 are Adults (18 & older) $12.00; Teens (13-17) $8.00; and Children (12 & under) are free.  Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a reduced rate for SSP license holders.  

There will be an SSP Repeat Fan Discount of a $3.00 discount (on Thursday) and $2.00 discount (on Friday) for each person with a ticket stub from the June 29, June 30 or July 3 events.  Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during the season for great prizes.  Last season, 10 winners were drawn from the repeat fans and each winner received $30.00 in SSP Gift Certificates for tickets or concessions.  The discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.

More Information About Friday, June 9 National Sprint Tour Cancellation - The racing events scheduled for Friday night, June 9 have been canceled due to afternoon thunderstorms hitting the speedway grounds.  The event will not be made up.  Advance ticket sale purchases for Friday, June 9 may be exchanged for Thursday, August 3 tickets for the return of the National Sprint Tour to central Pennsylvania. Friday August 18 Date Moved to Saturday, August 19 - The racing events originally scheduled for Friday night, August 18 have been moved to Saturday night, August 19.  The night will feature the Trail Motors Super Sportsman, Late Models, Street Stocks and a Mini Van Construction race.   This will be a non-points event with all lineups for qualifying derived from a blind draw at the beginning of the night.  The top 12 qualifiers from the heats will redraw for their feature starting positions.  Handicapping for these divisions will resume on Friday, August 25.

July 27 Sprint Car 25-lap Feature Lineup for June 22 Make Up Feature - The makeup feature event for the Sprint Car feature which was postponed due to rain on Thursday, June 22 will be run on Thursday night, July 27. Kid's Box Car Races Rescheduled - The Kid's Box Car Races rained out on Thursday, June 22 have been rescheduled for Thursday night, August 10.  Lots of great prizes will be available for all entrants in the Kid's Box Car Races.  All children 12 and under are encouraged to decorate their boxes and compete in the races.  A box car is a racecar made out of a box (with their arms, legs and head sticking out).  Two family members or friends are needed for the pit crew.  This will be a two-(2) lap race (on the frontstretch) with a pit stop.  The pit stop will include taking off and putting shoes back on both feet for tire changes, washing the face to clean windshield and drinking a drink for fuel.

Speedway Flea Market - The Sunday morning Speedway Flea Market will begin on August 6 at 6:00 a.m.  There will be plenty of things for everyone.  Vendor fees are $10.00 per day and setup begins at 5:30 a.m.  Food and drink vendors are not permitted.  This flea market will continue every Sunday throughout the rest of the year.
